Just as Viacom took a break from courtroom battles over Time Warner Cable’s iPad app , the media giant has filed a lawsuit against Cablevision, claiming the Optimum for iPad app doesn’t have the perfect to stream its channels. Viacom wants a brand new agreement before it sees its content appear on new screens , while Cablevision believes the delivery method it uses to get content to the app makes it just like any cable box in a customer’s house. Viacom:
“We’ve got taken this action to offer protection to our valuable content. Over the past few months, we’ve had limited and unproductive discussions with Cablevision about licensing iPad rights. We remain open to productive discussions, but we won’t wait indefinitely while our networks are being distributed without permission.”
