Sony MiniDisc Walkman to prevent spinning in September (video)

Except for with a handful of stateside early adopters (and some million others in Japan) desperate to embrace any new technology, Sony’s rather extensive line of MiniDisc Walkmans never had a raffle to dominate the portable audio market. But for one reason or another, the corporate kept up production of the optical player / recorder combos for almost two decades, after the 1st Sony MZ1 launched in Japan in September of ’92. With a countless number of more cost-effective solid-state alternatives available today, however, it’s in no way shocking to look good ole MD go the way in which of the laserdisc and the cassette . Now, just one question remains: How long until we see the compact disc suffer an analogous fate?
