Discuss a sting to start out the weekend. The International Trade Commission has just made an initial determination inside the ongoing patent infringement case between HTC and Apple (to not be confused with one other, similar case involving Apple and Samsung), and it is not looking great for HTC. The judge ruled that HTC had infringed on two of the 10 patents in question, and if this finally ends up flushing through, it’s possible that select HTC products will be banned from ever arriving within the US. Much more likely, however, is a settlement between the 2 at war, with HTC splashing out untold quantities of dollars in exchange for Apple backing faraway from the blockade trigger. Naturally, HTC’s already saying that it’s going to appeal the ruling, while Cupertino’s legal team is remaining mum. And, you recognize, grinning slyly.
