Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse coming in September for $49.95

It’s already been rather unceremoniously leaked , but now the Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse is all kinds official. Granted, it’s kinda tough to get interested by a mouse, but Redmond’s latest pointer is truly pretty neat. It sports BlueTrack Technology for purchasing your double click while using your jeans or carpet as a mouse pad, and a haptic scroll strip that permits you to feel the rate at which you’re flicking throughout the web. Oh, and that strip enables you to scroll both horizontally and vertically — not bad for $49.95. Microsoft even claims it could last 18-months on a single set of batteries, just long enough to forget this wireless mouse even has a group of DC cells inside. Look at the extraordinarily brief PR after the break and keep those purchasing fingers holstered for now — this bad boy wont be hitting shelves till September.

Today, Microsoft unveils the Explorer Touch Mouse – the most recent addition to touch family alongside Touch Mouse and Arc Touch Mouse – featuring a sophisticated scroll strip for vertical and horizontal navigation to your PC or Mac. Microsoft has taken touch strip technology to a better level to incorporate side-to-side swipes and five customizable buttons. Holding true to its name, the Explorer Touch Mouse permits you to explore beyond the confines of your workspace with BlueTrack Technology – you may ditch the mouse pad to roam on virtually any surface, out of your couch to the carpet. The Explorer Touch Mouse can also be the primary Microsoft mouse to present an 18-month battery life.

The Explorer Touch Mouse shall be available in September for $49.95, in four colors: Coal Black, Storm Gray, Sangria Red and Rust Red.
