Nissan’s ‘Leaf to Home’ system sends power back in your house or the grid

The Nissan Leaf may appear as if a car, however it seems this will soon even be an emergency power generator on wheels. The automaker just took the wraps off its new “Leaf to Home” system in Japan this week, which promises to permit you to send power stored within the car back for your house with regards to an outage, or maybe back to the grid (letting you charge the auto during off-peak hours and profiting when demand is high, as an instance). After all , that still requires greater than your basic charging station (this one ties directly into your home’s electricity distribution panel), and it isn’t quite ready for consumer use just yet — Nissan expects it to be available in Japan by April of next year.
