The Dell Streak 5 has always been an outlier, and it’s traveled a bumpy road ever because the unveiling when Dell insisted its smartphone was definitely a conveyable tablet. From the delayed launch inside the US to its $549 price for a SIM-locked unit — let alone the uncomfortably long dance with Donut — perhaps this moment was coming for some time. That’s right, folks, the Dell Streak 5 is not any more. Last month we reported it were taken off the market while it received a software update, however the hive mind in Round Rock should have changed its sentiments along the best way. The corporate now hosts an internet page that declares its spacious smartphone / compact tablet has met end-of-life status, and it’s offering little information as opposed to the ominous phrase, “Streak 5 isn’t any longer available.” Perhaps spinners including DJ_Steve will keep the misbegotten wonder alive with projects like StreakDroid , but in the meanwhile, we’re forced to hold our heads to honor the Streak’s passing. It has been a terrific ride, indeed.
