We’re still looking ahead to a version of TiVo’s official remote to return to Android , but now there is a homebrew option available meanwhile. TiVo Commander is a free open source app that just hit the Android Market in accordance with the community’s research of the way TiVo’s app talks to its DVRs. Thus far the feature list incorporates a full handheld remote control with keyboard input, ability to browse recorded shows, look for shows/movies/actors, set recordings and notice credits or suggestions for similar content to what is being watched. Needless to say you’re giving up many of the slick look and convenient options which are still iOS-only but when you simply desire to get things engaged on your Motorola / Samsung / HTC / etc. device without delay, that ability is simply a click of the source link away.
