Now here’s our idea of innovative competition. MetroPCS is partnering with Rhapsody to feature another “unlimited” to its all-you-can-eat plan: music. Instead of being charged a monthly subscription charge to receive access to the service’s massive catalog of 12 million tunes, customers gets the identical service — that’s playing, streaming, or even downloading tracks — with none additional charge on their monthly plan. Thus far, the service is barely available for the carrier’s Android lineup, so head on over to the Market to download the app. Before you start downloading music left and right, however, it is advisable subscribe to the feature online or over the telephone. MetroPCS and Rhapsody Partner to Deliver “Music for All”

The no-annual-contract wireless carrier and on-demand music provider bring unlimited music to MetroPCS customers

DALLAS – (August 17, 2011) – MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE: PCS) and Rhapsody®, the leading on-demand music service, today announced the provision of a vast mobile music experience for MetroPCS customers. Starting today, MetroPCS Android customers can plug into unlimited music with MetroPCS’ new Rhapsody Unlimited Music service with access to greater than 12 million songs in Rhapsody’s vast music catalog.

Rhapsody Unlimited Music is obtainable on MetroPCS Android handsets with the $60 monthly rate plan from MetroPCS, which along with Rhapsody Unlimited Music, offers unlimited talk, text, and Web access and other unique features like MetroNavigator, Pocket Express and visible Voice Mail Plus – all taxes and costs included, and all and not using a long-term contract. Music lovers can now play, download and stream as many songs as they would like, free from the per-track charges that include most other music download services.
