Many people were holding out hopes that the Function, Verizon’s rumored variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II , could be the latest addition to its LTE lineup , but now we’re hearing that it should not be coming to the carrier in any respect. In line with the Wall Street Journal, apparently quite likely that giant Red won’t be interested in Samsung’s anticipated launch event this coming Monday. The publication cites people accustomed to the plans, who also mentioned that we must always still expect to peer the Galaxy S II make its solution to Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T at least. Now here’s some possible relief to the edge you’ve gotten just felt: BGR is now reporting that while that’s all true, Verizon has a Samsung phone within the works so that they can have “nearly identical specs” to that of the GSII. We’re still awaiting official confirmation from Verizon at the matter and could update after we receive word.
Update: We just heard from a Verizon spokesperson who confirmed the carrier may not be carrying the device, and offered here quote: “We now have a powerful portfolio of devices that supply customers exciting options including the Droid Charge by Samsung which runs on Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network.”
