Kaleidescape adds iPad control, ultrawidescreen support to its media servers

Two years after launching its iPhone remote , Kaleidescape has brought a brand new iPad app to CEDIA 2011 that offers owners of its media servers full control in their media from anywhere in the home. Users can browse their collections in line with various metadata, jump on to favorite scenes of stored movies, or control displays and audio in other rooms of the home. Also new for 2011 is support for 2.35 widescreen viewing with its CinemaScape feature, a software upgrade that may automatically process the video internally and reformats the UI besides. Earlier, switching between aspect ratios usually required a style switch and movement of an anamorphic lens. CinemaScape eliminates this disruptive glitch by performing the mandatory video processing.

“Now it is a fluid and seamless experience when I’m exploring my number of movies,” said Eric Schmidt, Founder and President of Sound and Vision in Willowbrook, IL. “With the Kaleidescape System i will be able to jump around instantly, reliving memorable scenes and watching songs from different concerts, and with CinemaScape the experience is much more spectacular.”

The Kaleidescape System’s award-winning onscreen user interface can now benefit from the total 2.35 screen. The result’s a film covers view with twelve more movies, and a film list view that shows the title, actors, director, genre, year of release, MPAA rating and runtime unexpectedly.
