Ford electric E-Bike Concept packs a Galaxy S II at the bars, motor inside the wheel

Ford already wowed us with the Evos concept , however the slinkiest hybrid we have seen to this point here in Frankfurt has not four wheels but two. It is a concept bicycle from Ford called — look forward to it — the E-Bike Concept. It packs an electrical motor built into front wheel that could power it as much as a maximum speed of 25 km/h, driven by a 9.2Ah battery. Otherwise you can power it the standard way by pedalling, torque conveyed to the rear wheel over a carbon belt. (Oily chains are so last century.)

Maybe even more interesting is what rests up at the handlebars. No, that’s no iDevice — refreshingly it is a Galaxy S II . Through some custom software, riders can be ready to change suspension modes and naturally monitor battery charge, let alone get a touch the help of Google Navigation and perhaps pump out some Pandora too. The word “Concept” inside the title here and the spindly frame design should offer you a clue about when this thing will see production — probably never. But, we’ll be back with an update if that ever changes.
