You’ve heard the rumors, and Apple has now confirmed that it’ll be bringing Siri voice control to the iPhone — and, yes, this will still be called Siri . That would allow you to use natural language to accomplish tasks like inquiring for a weather forecast or getting directions, setting an alarm or creating a calendar appointment, and looking Wikipedia and Wolfram Alpha for info. Described as a “humble personal assistant,” Siri will work with English (including UK and Australia), French and German initially, and it will work with all built-in apps and over both 3G and WiFi. It’ll even be a beta initially, and Apple promises that it “gets better” because it learns your voice. It isn’t yet clear if it’ll be available for all iPhones or simply the iPhone 4S, though — we’ll bring you more as we get it.
