400 and fifty dollars. Made out to Lumiotec , please. Really, that’s all you must know — this tiny purposeless OLED lamp costs nearly half a grand. But hot damn does it look good. When you’ve got the money and do not mind shelling it over, Lumiotec’s OLED Hanger lamp is a mighty cool gadget to possess. Until that you are not really sure what to do with it. Do you hang it in a closet? Do you hang it over the door? Are you able to hang it anywhere in any respect? It’s a hanger, in any case. Even representatives from Rohm , which manufacturers the OLED panel utilized in the Hanger, were unable to elucidate the lamp’s purpose on the company’s CEATEC booth. Some variation of “use your imagination” was the overall response. Well, our imagination has concluded that we will pass at the Hanger, but we want a couple of dozen of these gorgeous OLED panels, please (we’ve already put aside several hundred square feet of wall space).
If you are still into the Hanger, we will be able to confirm that it is not only bright, but additionally very thin and intensely light. The panel gives off roughly an identical quantity of sunshine as a 60-watt bulb, yet it consumes just 9.6 watts of power. Sadly, that does not mean this may eventually pay for itself in electricity cost savings, since, again, you are still paying $450 for what’s essentially a (very slick) light bulb. We’d be way more impressed if the Hanger were more portable. You might have many feet of cord to work with, but you’ll still be tethered to an outlet — there isn’t a flat battery magic implemented here. These are available in now in limited quantities, in case you are able to pull out the checkbook and join up the dotted line. Or, if you’d rather spend that dough on a truckload of traditional fixtures, you will get your Hanger fix without charge within the video after the break.
