SlingPlayer app now available for Honeycomb tablets, priced at $30

It was teased back in September and now, it’s finally arrived — the SlingPlayer Android app optimized specifically for Honeycomb tablets. Available today at the Android Market, Sling Media’s latest app allows Slingbox owners to stream TV on to their slates, and lines a brand new program guide, designed to assist users browse content and alter channels with greater ease. The SlingPlayer app for Android handsets, meanwhile, will continue to operate on tablets in “compatibility mode,” without exacting extra charges, though it won’t offer an identical resolution quality you can find on a Honeycomb-laced device. Sling Media Announces Availability of SlingPlayer for Android Tablets

All New Application Turns an Android Tablet right into a TV

Foster City, Calif. – October 11, 2011-Sling Media, Inc., a unconditionally owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS), today announced the provision of SlingPlayer™ for tablets running versions 3.0 or later of the Android™ operating system. Available for purchase at the Android Market, the appliance lets Slingbox® owners extend their front room TV experience to their tablets and takes good thing about the better performance, screen resolutions and video quality the most recent Android devices can deliver. New to this release of SlingPlayer is a revamped program guide that makes it easy to browse content choices while continuing to look at TV. Familiar custom on-screen remote controls closely mimic the identical experience the user has from the couch at home.

The SlingPlayer application for Android Phones will continue to work in “Compatibility Mode” on tablets at no extra charge. The Android Phone version of the applying streams from all Slingboxes, but not on the higher quality resolutions available on tablet devices.
