First Seattle , then London, now new york — Amazon’s delivery lockers are beginning to pop up right through. As we’ve explained before, the lockers are basically giant, automated PO boxes, designated exclusively for Amazon purchases. In case you decide to add a locker location on your address book (go check your account settings to look if the choice is obtainable to you yet), your package can be crammed into this kind of kiosks and you will be given a code to unlock a specific slot on the location of your choice. Thus far there are eight scattered around Manhattan in Rite Aides, D’Agostinos and Gristedes. We’ve not wandered out of our secret lair to get photographic evidence of the drop off locations yet (we choose to have our Amazon purchases left on the gate under the watchful eye of a turret ), but we expect the screen shot we took is proof enough that we aren’t pulling your leg. Still, if you are afraid the UPS guy might swing by when you are still on your jammies this appears like a reasonably nice solution.
