Lego CD / DVD ripper enables you to drop your physical media — literally (video)

If the one thing standing between you and an entire abandonment of physical media is the tedious task of ripping your whole CDs and DVDs, boy have we got the Lego-based gadget for you. Paul Rea whipped up this little beauty — it’s an Arduino-powered Lego arm that swings to pick out up a disc, deposit it inside the drive after which drop it (perhaps somewhat too literally) right into a finished pile. It is not quite perfect — the arm is a little loud because it moves, and anyone who’s ever owned CDs or DVDs may likely grimace because the thing tosses finished discs right into a pile, but it’s an entertaining break from what can ultimately prove an arduous task.
