Griffin’s Beacon universal handheld remote control system now available for Android, ships for $70

It has been quite ages since we got our hands on Griffin’s Beacon universal handheld remote control, long ago at CES. The IR converter has since hit the marketplace for iOS users , however the Android community, until recently, were left in the dead of night. That modified yesterday, however, when Griffin announced that its wire-free system is now available for Google-powered handsets and tablets. The transmitter, fueled by a quartet of AA batteries, converts an Android device’s Bluetooth signal into infrared and sends out commands on your TV, DVD or Blu-Ray player, effectively allowing users to put it anywhere around their home entertainment system. The handheld remote control functions are handled by Dijit’s customized app, where you are able to browse, search and speak to up TV shows, using the integrated guide. The app, like its iOS counterpart, is out there free of charge, however the system itself will set you back about $70. If you are even remotely interested, inspect the source links below, or the entire PR after the break.
