Must See HDTV (November 14th – 20th)

This week is all about going retro. Whether we’re taking it back hundreds of years with knights and jousting, a half century or so for classics like West Side Story, My Fair Lady, and Looney Tunes, or simply a decade to a classic videogame it is time to have a look back at where we’ve been. The excellent news is due to technology all may be able to look better than ever — although we’ll hold off final judgement at the knights for now. Check below for the highlights this week, followed after the break by our weekly listings of what to seem out for in TV, Blu-ray and videogames.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
It has been ten years since Halo activate the storm of console first person shooters, and now the unique is back and looking out better than ever. This would no question thrill folks that never got over the lack of its super-powered pistol within the subsequent Halo games, or very nearly anyone with fond memories of CTF runs in Blood Gulch. Our friends at Joystiq found everything intact and upgraded , but the Kinect integration was noted as “perfunctory.” We probably won’t be yelling “Reload!” at our screens a great deal but we’ll definitely take this opportunity to rewind the clock in HD & 3D.
(November 15th, $40 on Amazon )

Knights of Mayhem
we’ve never been in love with this trend of wierd reality TV shows taking up networks that were previously dedicated to science and exploration, but this one’s odd enough that we are going to give it an opportunity. Knights of Mayhem depicts the game of full-contact professional jousting, all done King Arthur-style on horseback wearing heavy armor. We have seen enough episodes of Game of Thrones to grasp this is pretty dangerous, but at the upside, a round might last more than last weekend’s UFC bout on Fox. Look into a trailer embedded after the break.
(November 15th, National Geographic, 9 & 10PM)

MLS Cup Final
The complete MLS season has come all the way down to this weekend’s final match between the los angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo. David Beckham has scored Comeback Player of the Year honors for his effort in getting back from a torn Achilles to steer LA to the overall match, we’ll see if he and Coach of the Year Bruce Arena have what it takes to win the cup pictured above. That’s in regards to the extent of the soccer analysis we will be able to offer, for the proper of America’s other pro football, tune in to ESPN Sunday night.

  • HTC Ville to run on a dual-core Snapdragon S4?HTC Ville to run on a dual-core Snapdragon S4?

Well looky here. A phone bearing the alluring name of "HTC VLE_U" just cropped up on NenaMark2 with a healthy 57.50 average frame rate. More interesting than the score, however, is the connection with a Qualcomm Adreno 225 GPU, which -- assuming it truly is legit -- strongly implies the presence of a powerful Snapdragon S4 sitting inside the Ville's engine compartment. This tallies… »

Word in the street is ViewSonic's on the brink of unveil a fresh, ICS-equipped 7-inch tablet at MWC (together with everyone else). The ViewPad G70, which might be a follow-as much as that budget-friendly E70 we showed you at CES, is rumored to hold a touch heavier $350 price ticket than its sibling. While the slate's best feature might be Google's 4.0 treat , ViewSonic's… »
