Five years after first linking up for a “new iconic phone” (the primary one might be best remembered for slightly predating the iPhone’s large touchscreen / few buttons look ) LG and Prada have announced the renewal in their exclusive phone partnership, in addition to the planned arrival of the third phone within the series early next year. The teaser image (above) shows a design that resembles the Prada K2 / P940 phone we have seen in leaked pictures and passing during the FCC recently supposedly feature Android 2.3, a 4.3-inch display, and 21Mbps HSPA+ speeds in a 9mm thin package. SEOUL, Nov. 24, 2011 –- PRADA and LG Electronics (LG) today renewed their exclusive cellular telephone partnership at a signing ceremony in Seoul, Korea. Building in this partnership’s previous success, both companies will develop the PRADA phone by LG 3.0, for launch in early 2012.
Under this partnership, LG may be PRADA’s exclusive cellphone partner. The collaboration, which began in 2006 and ended in two premium cell phones being introduced in 2007 and 2008, specializes in key elements in the smartphone, including software and user interface all the way down to its design and packaging.
“The partnership between Prada and LG has always been characterised by an innovative approach and uncompromised quality of fashion, design and breakthrough technology,” said Mr. Patrizio Bertelli, CEO of PRADA Group. “These values are common to both our brands, that have always anticipated, and sometimes set, the trends in lots of fields. We were therefore delighted to cooperate again with LG within the development of the newest creation of the mobile communication industry.”

The PRADA phone by LG 1.0, a pioneer inside the cellular telephone space, was an unqualified success, selling over 1,000,000 units. This premium handset combined high-end technology with a design embodying superior style. As evidence of its place in design history, the PRADA phone by LG 1.0 is a part of the permanent collection in Big apple City’s Museum of contemporary Art (MoMA) and the Museum of latest Art (MOCA) in Shanghai.
The PRADA phones by LG were avant-garde inside the technology they offered to users. The PRADA phone by LG 1.0 was the world’s first touchscreen cell, and the two.0 provided an innovative mobile experience through its unique watch with Link technology, which allowed for simple access to caller ID, SMS text messages, call history, call block and two-way alarm notification.
