Robots finally ready to follow ‘make me a sandwich’ command (video)

Pancakes ? No problem. Cookies ? To procure it! Sandwich? …is there a Subway near by? Why robots have this kind of hard time slapping meat and cheese on bread is beyond us, but we’re glad the crack team on the Technical University of Munich has finally found out the right way to teach them. The dynamic duo of James and Rosie don’t exactly blaze through their task of constructing a sandwich and a few popcorn, but not less than they’re nice enough to toast the bread in your salami- and cheese-based chow. As usual, the moves listed here are not preprogrammed, both bots make decisions at the fly in response to a fancy “reasoning” mechanism and information it may cull from a Kinect.
