Motorola Milestone with Android 2.1 hitting Bulgaria by March 20th, rest of Europe to follow?
We’d had some indication that Europe would be seeing Motorola Milestones running Android 2.1 roughly around this time, and it looks like we are now finally starting to get a few more specifics. According to Mobile Bulgaria, that country’s leading carrier, Vivacom, will begin selling Milestones equipped with Android 2.1 “by March 20th,” which should no doubt be just part of a broader European rollout in the coming days / weeks (that will hopefully extend to Canada as well). Unfortunately, things still aren’t any clearer for Droid users in the US, but you can be sure we’ll be watching every development on that front.

Plastic Logic QUE proReader delayed: time to reevaluate that pre-order?
Did you by any chance get in on the early QUE proReader pre-order? Well, we’ve got news for you that might be good or bad depending upon your perspective. A pre-orderer just forwarded us an email received from Richard Archuleta, CEO of Plastic Logic, detailing a shipment delay from mid-April to sometime in the summer, a date echoed by the QUE product site at Barnes & Noble. According to the email, the delay is due to a desire to “fine-tune the features and enhance the overall product experience.” Now the good news: credit cards have not been charged leaving disgruntled hopefuls either $649 (for the 4GB WiFi model) or $799 (for the 8GB WiFi + 3G model) to spend on something else. There are certainly more e-reader choices available now than when the QUE proReader went up for pre-order on January 7th — though not with the same sophisticated business-use approach or big 10.5-inch display… for that, you’ll have to wait for Skiff to ship. Or maybe you’d prefer a full color LCD tablet instead? Regardless, you do have choices. Full email after the break.

Thunderbird Lanikai Beta 1 Released
Mozilla has officially launched the first beta of Thunderbird 3 today, codenamed Lanikai. It’s available for Windows, Mac and Linux, so compatibility shouldn’t be much of an issue. The goal of this release is to smooth out the problems created by upgrading the Gecko engine that powers the program, and this is the first semi-stable release of Mozilla’s email client to use Gecko 1.9.2. The final version of Thunderbird 3.1 is expected to be available sometime in June, though the date hasn’t been set in stone yet, so there is still a possibility the release date to be changed.

iPad orders start at 8:30AM tomorrow morning
We knew iPad pre-orders were starting tomorrow, but now we know exactly when all you lovable crazies have to stumble out of bed and transmit your credit card numbers to Steve’s brain: 8:30AM ET, or 5:30AM on the West Coast. We generally recommend a bed shaker alarm clock, but hey, let’s not pretend we haven’t all turned a few long nights into tomorrow with our old friends Jackie D and Mistakes. Barnes & Noble promises B&N eReader app for iPad near launch
Need a bit more evidence that the e-book download business is a whole lot different than the music download business? Then look no further than Barnes & Noble, which has just announced that it plans to make its B&N eReader app available for the Apple iPad “around the time” of the device’s launch. Details are otherwise a bit light, but the app will be free, and is apparently “designed specifically” for the iPad, giving you access to all of the books, magazines and newspapers available in Barnes & Noble’s eBookstore. Could a Kindle app be far behind?

HTC Touch Pro2 gets a new lease of Android life, loves it (video)
Android for Windows phones — simple concept, simple enough installation, but awesome results. The good people behind the XDAndroid project have been working hard to allow you to get your Google juices flowing nice and freely on your WinMo device and the latest build looks to have all but completed the task. Demonstrated on a Touch Pro2 — a phone that recently got itself Ubuntu-ized — the Android installation experiences no difficulty in making calls, sending SMS or email missives, or browsing the web. There are still limitations, mind you, with GPS, Bluetooth and “other key functions” not yet available, but for the most part you’re looking at the full Android experience on devices that weren’t initially meant for it. Check it out on video after the break or hit the source link for detailed instructions on how to load this up on your own phone.

New Flip cams to launch in early April?
The details are slim to none on this one, but we’re all about a good pocket cam rumor. According to the usually-reliable Business Insider Cisco will launch a new set of Flip camcorders around the NAB show which runs from April 12-15, but we don’t have any specs yet. Come on Cisco, now you’ve got us guessing not only about the future of the Internet, but also if your newest Flip will support 1080p. Told you we didn’t know much, but we’ll obviously be keeping an eye out for more.

Google Opens The Google Apps Marketplace
It looks like Google has placed further commitment to its online app store business, as it has just officially announced the Google Apps Marketplace. This is targeted at customers who are currently using the Google Apps service, and the apps featured in the Google Apps Marketplace will be able to integrate well it, making things less disjointed within companies. Installed apps, with administrator approval, will be able to interact with calendar, email, documents and contact data, providing a productivity boost. Another benefit of this centralized system is that users won’t have to remember passwords for various accounts, nor worry about the hassle of syncing and sharing data. Currently there are already more than 50 companies selling applications in the Google Apps Marketplace. It looks like we’ve taken one more small step into the world of cloud computing. Bluetooth Access Point brings text messaging, voice messaging, email to the friendly skies
Whether you covet your Irish friends’ ability to make in-flight cellphone calls or value your aerial naps too much to care either way, you must admit that the promise of in-flight SMS, MMS, voice messaging, and text email is tantalizing. To this end, the kids at Asiq have announced a little something called the Bluetooth Access Point. This device uses the aircraft’s satellite link to send data to your respective carrier, eliminates the need for a picocell, and boasts up to 3Mb/s speeds.
