Guitar/headphone interface for iPhone
The slew of music recording / creation apps for the iPhone all share the same weakness. They rely on the internal microphone, and a recording quality microphone it is not. The Guitarbud from PRS Guitars gives you a direct input into your iDevice without taking away headphone capability.
It’s a simple, yet effective little cord. All [...]
iDongle hardware iPhone jailbreak tool makes hacker life a little simpler
If you needed any more proof that Apple’s lame cat-and-mouse game with the iPhone jailbreak community has only served to increase the scene’s resourcefulness and creativity, look no further than the iDongle, a slick piece of hacker-made hardware that can jailbreak and activate an iPhone 3GS or iPod touch running OS 3.1.2 just by plugging it into the dock connector. What’s more, it allows a jailbroken iPhone to be rebooted away from a computer, which is currently a problem for on-the-go hackers — just stick this guy in your bag and you’ll be good to go. There’s only a dozen prototypes right now, but pre-orders are being accepted to raise funds for production — we’ve got a feeling quite a few people are going to be interested. Video after the break.

Novothink Solar Surge iPhone case

The iPhone still suffers from a relatively short battery life till today, and carrying around a portable power pack is always a good idea if you happen to need to keep in touch with the world most of the time. Novothink could have a game changing solution with its Solar Surge iPhone case that relies on the power of the sun to juice up your handset’s battery whenever it has access to solar power, while providing protection against drops and knocks thanks to its soft touch, non-slip finish case. Available in several colors such as black, green, blue and white, the Solar Surge offers up to 4 more hours of battery life. It will retail for $79.95, although an iPod touch version is $10 cheaper.

PRS Guitarbud jacks your axe, ego into iPhone / iPod touch
Whatever happened to that dreamy Line 6 / Apple tie-up? Who knows, right? While those two sort out their future behind the scenes, Paul Reed Smith Guitars is stepping up to take advantage of an obvious market opportunity. The newly announced Guitarbud is a simplistic accessory that allows axe slingers to jack their guitar into an iPhone or second-generation iPod touch, all while providing a headphone output in order to keep the noise making to yourself. We’re told that the device works with pretty much any recording-supported app (even Apple’s own Voice Memos), though PRS obviously recommends that you check out its JamApp guitar amp simulator / tuner / training tool. Best of all, it’s available today for £29.95 (or $29.95 here in the States), putting you just a few yard mowings away from securing your own personal aural sanctuary. Too bad the reviews from early adopters aren’t so promising…

Capcom itself isn’t listing the app [iTunes link] on their official “Capcom Mobile” site yet, but it is already being offered for $9.99.
Sausage iPhone stylus shipping to US
You may have seen the “Sausage Finger” iPhone photos making the rounds early last month. I could have sworn we posted it but I can’t seem to find it. Anyhoo, it was a photo of two guys on a South Korean subway car using little sausages to manipulate their iPhones while wearing gloves. Everyone had a chuckle and then we all moved on—UNTIL NOW!

Dalek Robot controlled by iPhone
The iPhone is a marvelous device if you know how to pull its strings, and this is where Steve from BotBuilder.co.uk steps in with a brand new Dalek Robot which is controlled via an iPhone, although an iPod touch will do nicely as well. The Apple device will relay OSC signals via Wi-Fi to processing which will in turn talk over serial to the Servo Board. Whenever you tilt your iPod or iPhone, the Dalek will move in the corresponding direction thanks to the accelerometer data collected and processed.
