Sony’s NEX cams get 3D panorama mode via new firmware

Everyone loves 3D — especially Sony. So much so that the company just outed a firmware for its NEX-3 and NEX-5 cameras that enables a 3D panorama sweep mode. Users only need to sweep the camera from side to side to capture the image as the camera will shoot a bust of photos and then automagically stitch them together.

New Playstation firmware update coming soon

Downgrade iPhone 3G from iOS 4

A large number of iPhone 3G owners realized that the jump to iOS 4 has resulted in their devices slowing down to a crawl, and it just isn’t worth the tradeoff when it comes to having new features and shortcuts albeit having your phone move at the speed of a glacier. You will need to have iPhone OS 3.1.3 and RecBoot first before getting started, followed by other steps that are stated here. Guess being an early adopter is not always something profitable, eh?

Pioneer Introduces Elite Receivers With iPhone, Media Sharing

Pioneer has announced its new line of six Elite A/V receivers that pull the strings in your home theater system, offering connectivity features to streamline entertainment and deliver top notch sound for your home. If you’re on a tight budget, the fact that Pioneer is offering the VSX-30 and VSX-31 for $550 and $650, with a more affordable price should be good news. Key new features of these machines are enhanced iPhone and iPod touch controls and functionalities, Bluetooth for streaming audio, Internet connectivity to stream Internet radio, and HDMI 1.4a. iPhone and iPod touch users will be able to adjust the receiver’s audio settings with Pioneers iControlAV App which is available for free in the App Store.

Google Maps for Android 4.3 introduced

Microsoft Bing Updated With New Entertainment Features

Microsoft has announced that its Bing search portal has gotten a few new features that focus on entertainment content. When performing music-related searches, users are able to quickly access lyrics, band photos, videos, and even tour dates for their favorite artists. In addition, the results will also offer download links from Zune, iTunes and Amazon.com MP3. Gaming searches have also been tweaked, offering detailed information for over 35,000 titles with content organized to include reviews, cheats, and even walkthroughs for many games. There are a good 100 free casual games, such as the addictive Bejeweled, that can be played directly within the search engine. TV content will include full-length episodes, HD video and information to catch the shows on your traditional TV too. Movie information such as theaters, showtimes, parking places, traffic updates and reviews are available too. Most of the new content is already available on Bing.com, aside from the TV listings, which should be going live in the next few weeks.

TomTom 1.4 ready for iOS 4

TomTom is well prepared for the future with version 1.4 of its popular navigation application being ready to hit the ground running after your iPhone 3GS has been upgraded to run on the latest iOS 4 update. Basically, this allows drivers to carry out phone calls on the phone itself without worrying about getting lost in the process. Among the new features that are included in TomTom for iPhone version 1.4 includes seamless navigation when calling (applicable to iPhone 3GS only), updated maps, background navigation instructions, route sharing, departure reminder, eco routes and car symbols among others.

Hitachi EMIEW 2 upgraded with new features

Hitachi is certainly fond of their EMIEW 2 (Excellent Mobility and Interactive Existence as Work-mate) robot, where the Japanese company decided to give this cute little bugger an upgrade after two years in existence, boasting new enhanced voice recognition and driving performance. Made famous by its unique legs that feature wheels for feet, the EMIEW 2 is now able to drive at up to 6km/h in order to keep pace with people. Should it be required to carry some load, it can kneel down and scoot around for a greater degree of stabilty since it will achieve a lower centre of gravity that way. Not only that, adaptive suspension control technology also helps increase its stability when driving over bumpy terrain. We wonder whether existing EMIEW 2s can be sent it for the latest upgrades…
