Cisco preps new Flip cameras

The Flip camera is meant for those who are just starting to delve into the world of digital video recording, and word has it that Cisco will be rolling out a new Flip camera, although there is no word on specifications. We would definitely want to see more functionalities thrown into the Flip range, as it is way too basic for our tastes, even for an entry-level device.

Paper calendar takes the autumn route

Don’t you just love autumn, with falling leaves and all? Well, check out this unique calendar that will merge analog, digital, nature and poetic function in a single device. Every single day in autumn will see one page off just like a leaf, thanks to a clever mechanism located at its top. Meant for a promotional tool for clients by leaf blower manufacturer Stihl, this is one idea worth looking into.

PlayStation Move Hands-On
PlayStation owners, rejoice! Soon you will stop hearing “when are you getting a Wii?” from your friends and family. Sony has just announced the PlayStation Move at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Presented last year at E3 (in fanfare), it is now a real product that will be sold as a bundle (game+ EyeToy webcam + PS Move) for $100. If you add the secondary controller, and make that a set of two, the bill will fairly quickly. So, how is it?

iPhone 3.2 Beta SDK Hints At New Gestures

Folks who are keen to dabble with Apple’s latest iPhone 3.2 Beta 4 SDK might be interested to check out some new gestures that have appeared in the gestures folder. Upon inspection, you’ll notice the 3Tap.plist and LongPress.plist files, which seem to indicate that the iPhone will get the triple tap and long press interaction methods. Can you imagine any scenario or app that would benefit from such additional interaction methods, or do you think that the gestures that the iPhone already has are good enough?

Motorola And Microsoft Strike A Deal To Put Bing On Cell Phones

Oh the irony of some things. The folks over at Google certainly aren’t going to be too amused to hear that Motorola has just struck up a deal with Microsoft that will see Bing search and mapping services come standard on Motorola’s phones that are powered by Google’s Android OS. In short, there will be a Bing bookmark and search widget loaded by default on your cell phone, starting with Motorola’s phones in China. This might be related to Google’s dispute with the Chinese government, not to mention the possibility that Google might be pulling out of the Chinese market. This news continues the recent trend of setting other search engines are the default on Google’s Android, such as the deal between AT&T and Motorola for the Backflip.

Is The Motorola Opus One The Motorola i1?

Pictures of the upcoming Motorola Opus One for iDEN networks have been going around for a while now, but now a little update on the device seems to have surfaced. Apparently it could be called the i1, instead of the Opus One, and it will sport a 5-megapixel camera, instead of the initial 3-megapixel rumor. The more interesting bit is that Opera Mini will be the default browser on the i1, which is probably indication that Google’s default Android browser isn’t performing up to standards for certain parties. If you’re on an iDEN network, are you looking forward to this phone?

KT To Offer The LG KH5200 Andro-1 In Korea

If you think that the LG KH5200 Andro-1 phone looks rather familiar, you’re right, as it seems that this phone is a rebadged version of the LG GW620 that we’ve seen before. The KH5200 will be launching in Korea via KT as soon as next week, and should be going for about 600,000 won ($531). What makes it more interesting is the rumblings of a plan that will allow you to get the phone for free, if you’re on a plan of 45,000 ($40) won and above. It the rumors are true, the KH5200 will become KT’s first smartphone that will be offered for free on contract. Specifications of the LG KH5200 Andro-1 should include:
- Slide-out QWERTY keyboard
- 5-megapixel camera
- Bluetooth
- 3-inch 320 x 480 resolution display

New Flip cams to launch in early April?

The details are slim to none on this one, but we’re all about a good pocket cam rumor. According to the usually-reliable Business Insider Cisco will launch a new set of Flip camcorders around the NAB show which runs from April 12-15, but we don’t have any specs yet. Come on Cisco, now you’ve got us guessing not only about the future of the Internet, but also if your newest Flip will support 1080p. Told you we didn’t know much, but we’ll obviously be keeping an eye out for more.

Live from Sony’s ‘PlayStation Move’ motion controller event

We just got underway at Sony’s PlayStation Move motion controller event. Sure, they haven’t called it “Move,” just yet, but we just saw the “Move” moniker on a demo screen at the side of the stage, so we’re feeling pretty confident at this point.

Symbian 3 gets new design goes further than skin deep
Nokia has made it clear that it will revamp the user interface (UI) of its Symbian phones, and you might have seen the video above during Mobile World Congress. However, what’s more interesting is that Nokia has removed a ton of legacy code and APIs, to make the clean break that was long overdue. We’re getting closer to what was available on the N900 and some of the qualities are the same (the app switching UI is excellent), but the new UI is seemingly much faster and more fluid. With the new software architecture, comes new code that is not built to deal with last decade’s problems such as lack of graphics hardware or horrible memory constraints.
The net result should be much more responsive Nokia phones and interfaces. I’m glad that Nokia (and others) are seeing the light, because Apple and Microsoft sure did too. Now, we’re waiting for the actual hardware that we suspect might come out this summer at Nokia World.

Pioneer DJM-2000 mixer

Pioneer has just launched its DJM-2000 mixer today, where it will come with the seemingly customary touchscreen display in many devices these days. Apart from that, you will also be able to benefit from half a dozen individual effects processors. Basically, this model contains all of the built-in technology of the EFX-1000, hence doing away with the need for an external effects unit. Pioneer has enlisted the help of James Zabiela, Roger Sanchez, Eddie Halliwell, Tom Middleton, The Swedish House Mafia, Paul Woolford, John ‘00′ Fleming and Kutski DJs during different parts of its development before settling on the final version which will set you back by €1,999.
