BoostApak lets your kid carry his own load

You know that when it comes to safety of your offspring, you would spare no expense. Hence, booster seats in your vehicle are a must, since it helps buckle up your little ones safe and sound during a long journey. How about letting them carry their own load instead when they arrive at their destination? This is made possible thanks to the BoostApak, since it comes with a hard plastic shell that caters to kids aged from 4 to 11, and is ergonomically designed to “protect growing spines and encourage better posture.” No idea on how much it will cost, but do keep a keen eye out for it when the BoostApak hits the markets this April.

Should we even bother going after cyber-criminals?
At what point do you stop trying to track and prosecute cyber-criminals? Obviously, you can’t let criminals run around willy-nilly, but when you look at the resources involved in bringing those guys to justice—and are you really nabbing the right guys in the first place?—it’s worth at least talking about. Is fighting cyber-crime about as futile as fighting the war on drugs?
A first? Muslim woman refuses to submit to airport body scan, not allowed to board flight
It finally happened. A Muslim woman in Manchester refused to submit to a full-body airport body scanner and was thus barred from boarding her flight. She cited her Muslim faith, which might have been expected, as to why she refused to submit to the scan. I don’t trust the Internet to react to this news with any aplomb whatsoever.

Honda Driving Simulator Gets An Upgrade

Simulators are a great way to learn dangerous things in a safe manner, such as using flight simulators instead of a real plane, as well as driving simulators, though we can’t imagine why a bicycle simulator could be that important. Honda’s updated driving simulator is aimed at traffic safety education, and hopefully with all this high tech wizardry going on, we’ll have less traffic accidents. This updated version has additional functions that provide easy-to-understand graphics and written descriptions of conditions where the driver should be cautious. The included 42-inch high-definition LCD display allows you to feel more immersed in the whole driving experience. The 2-axis motion base model will only set you back $66,000, whilst the 6-axis version will cost you $101,540. Looks like we won’t be having any of these in our homes anytime soon.

Be careful when handling that iBuyPower laptop!
Whoa. It seems that our amigos over at Laptop Magazine had a bit of a run-in with an iBuyPower laptop, and that nasty little cut was the result. IBuyPower’s response? “Yikes, we need to look into that, one moment please.”
LED Table Will Set You Back A Pretty Penny

Not sure what to do with that huge wad of cash lying in your bedroom? You could always splurge it on this Ingo Maurer inspired LED table, and considering that it costs a good $23,175, it should do a fairly good job of reducing that your pile of cash. The table sports a laminated safety glass on the top, not to mention 278 white LEDs which can emit light both ways. This LED table is powered by 48 volts DC, so you’ll need to keep it plugged in to stay juiced, and you’ll be able to use the external ballast for dimming. You have to admit, having dinner in a $23k LED table would certainly be an interesting experience, though you’d probably get bored of it real fast.

The madness continues: Paris airport installs full-body scanning machines
Another international airport has adopted those full-body scanners that have proven to be so controversial. Paris’ Charles de Gaulle has installed the machine on a three-month trial basis.
Arkema solar-powered shower

Arkema knows that there is nothing better than enjoying a nice, warm shower after a particularly hard day at the office, and they help you save money in the process. This solar-powered shower comes in a modern style with a curved tower, where you can choose from a wide range of colors. Its arching tower will position the showerhead directly over the person taking a bath, with the thermostat set to 38° C for safety purposes. In addition, there is a foot wash that runs cold water if you want to keep your feet smelling fresh and clean after trudging home from the office. You could place this outdoors as well, but we’re not too sure whether one would want to go the full monty there.

This hand sanitzer uses plasma, for cleaning
The New York Times highlights the development of a new type of hand sanitizer, primarily developed for hospitals, that uses plasma to zap your hands clean. It’s cheap, too, costing around $100 to build, so maybe they’ll find their way into the crippled U.S. health-care system one day?
Volvo S60 has pedestrian tracking
![]()
Volvo’s pedestrian detection system can be found on the revamped S60, adding on to other safety features which include an in-collision detection system as well as auto-braking. These unique combinations of tech are able to spot pedestrians who step in front of the car, warn the driver who will hopefully brake in time, and if not, the car will take over by automatically applying full braking power. Any vehicle that is not going faster than 22MPH ought to be able to stop completely, while anyone going faster than that will slow down significantly. Do you think smarter cars result in dumber drivers?
